Seventh Wednesday after Pentecost
I'm at the beach. Many thanks to Jerry Hosking for setting up the blog for me on my laptop here in Manteo, in the beautiful NC Outer Banks. We will be here for the next week. I will be able to blog on the regular schedule.
First, again my reminder for you to do the survey, if you haven't already. Here are the questions:
1. How often do you read the blog?
a. every day (or every blog) b. some days c. occasionally
2. Which subject days do you like best? least?
a. Monday--Faith Journey Narrative
b. Tuesday--Reviews (books, movies, music, art, architecture, apps)
c. Wednesday--Theology (just completed series on the Apostles' Creed)
d. Thursday--Prayer and Spirituality
e. Responses to comments during the week
f. Bible study
3. Would you like for the blog to be shorter? Same length? Longer?
4. Would you like for the blog to be less frequent?
5. What suggestions do you have for making the blog better? Any other comments?
You don't have to answer all the questions. The main thing is that I simply want to hear from you, all of you. I've gotten 8 responses so far. If I can get five more responses, I'll quit nagging you about it.
Again, you don't really have to answer the questions as printed, Mostly I just want to hear your thoughts.
So far the most popular day is Monday--Faith Journey Day. The least popular is Tuesday, Review Day. If those are not your most and least popular, and you haven't let me know already, let me know now. I have also had a suggestion that I send responses to comments just to the individual commenter, unless it's a comment that I thin will concern all readers.
I have had two of the 8 survey respondents send write that they would like more Bible study. I will eventually run out of my Faith Journey. I'm up to age 38 at this point.
So far on Saturday Bible Studies, I have been picking little read verses and texts from all the Bible. I'm thinking about doing a start to finish study of Acts, a long time interest of mine. My University Church Sunday School class began 8 years ago as "The Acts Project." Only two people who were in the original class were still in the continuing class "The Omega Project." So the material will be new for most of you. I would probably do the study two days a week, and do the other daily topics four days a week. What do you think? Do you need convincing that Acts is a fascinating and important book? Other than Ascension (ch 1), Pentcost (ch 2) and Paul's Damascus Road Experience (ch 9), most folks know very little about Acts.
Many thanks for all the positive and encouraging things you survey respondents have written to me, and for the couple of good critical remarks and opinions as well. I do want to hear from more of you.
Tomorrow we will be back to Prayer and Spirituality Day. I'll be writing from the deck of our condo, high temp of 82 tomorrow, several degrees cooler than where most of you will be reading from.
Stay cool. Stay safe. Keep reading.
Faithfully,
Christian
