Fifth Friday after the Epiphany

I intend to make some changes starting Monday in both my life and in this blog. You will likely find the changes in the blog barely noticeable. We will still have the regular Tuesday and Saturday Acts Bible Study. We will continue the High Cburch--Low Church Series. On Mondays I will continue to write about my Faith Journey, although it will no longer be a narrative. Over the last few months I have narrated my whole Faith Life to you from age 4 to the present. Starting Monday I'll write about current faith experience and other things particularly meaningful in my life.

Changes in the blog:
I will begin each blog with a list of the lectionary readings for the day according to the common lectionary. There are usually three readings on Mondays and two on each of the other week days. I invite you to read them as a part of your spiritual discipline. You don't have to read them. You can read them some days and not others. Binge reading this blog is fine. A number of you have told me that you do that. Binge reading lectionary texts doesn't work. It's better just to skip until the current day rather than try to make up for days you missed.

I will end each blog with a prayer, either one I have found in my reading or one I compose. Pray it with me and with me and the rest of our company of readers. We won't be praying it at the same time, but I want us to feel a sense that we are together in prayer.

I do want to hear from more of you. More questions. More comments. More people.

Changes for me:
I want to focus more of my life in prayer. I want to pray for you. My prayer life centers around the Daily Office of the Order of St. Luke, the only United Methodist holy order. I will be extending my time in the "Prayers for Special Concerns" to include prayers for individual ones of you and those close to you. If you want other blog readers to pray for you. I will be glad to post those prayer requests on the blog. If you want just me to pray for your concern, just email me at candmwilson401@att.net. Marianne has here own email, so your prayer requests will be completely confidential.

I believe that my praying for you will help you. I don't believe this is because I'm any closer to God or any holier than you. I'm definitely not. The only thing is that I do feel called to pray for you, specifically for this group of people who read this blog.

I will be asking for your prayers for me as well.

Monday I will be writing about my developing understanding of the contemplative life, or perhaps it would be more accurate to say, my contemplative life.

Faithfully,
Christian
